About Us

Founded in 2003 by Indonesian parents seeking a better education for their children, today Cahaya Bangsa Classical School (CBCS) is a private PreSchool through Grade 12 classical, Christian school located on the outskirts of Bandung in the beautiful, mountainous region of West Java, Indonesia. Situated within a desirable neighborhood on a 3-hectare campus, CBCS consists of four school divisions, Early Childhood (PS-K), Grammar School (G1-G6), School of Logic (G7-G9), and School of Rhetoric (G10-G12) with a current schoolwide enrollment of 868 students. Serving primarily Indonesian families, CBCS is a dual language school with +/- 80% of the instruction conducted in English using curricular imported from America and taught by a handful of expats and a majority of national English-speaking teachers. The nationally required subjects of Civics and Indonesian Language are conducted in Indonesian and taught by national teachers. CBCS is fully accredited by the Ministry of Education, registered as an SPK school in Indonesia, (international-style school) and an international dual-accredited school from the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and the Accrediting Commission of Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

CBCS boasts a strong reputation in the Greater Bandung area due to a distinctive identity, school culture, and approach to education which is based on the 2,500-year-old tradition rooted in Western culture, civilization, and the historic Christian faith. For 20 years, the school’s vision and mission to provide a Christ-centered educational environment which equips students with a biblical worldview, cultivates a love for Indonesia, inspires lifelong learning and serves as a model of classical Christian education in Indonesia along with the core values of wisdom, integrity, compassion, courage, and servanthood are daily expressed on campus. We truly believe classical, Christian education, implemented with effective pedagogy by loving teachers regardless of geographical context, is the best method for equipping students for an ever-changing world and a future not yet imagined.
