~ Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the Strickland Family ~
Wade & Denise (aka Papa Wade & Mimzy) + Dr. Dara Strickland + Chase, Leanne, Ella (2 yrs) & Rosie (6 months) + Andrew (brother Jeremiah, not pictured) + Clay & Havanna
Wade and I missed all of you and the CBCS Christmas festivities this year, but were blessed to have extended time with our entire family for the Thanksgiving - Christmas and New Year holidays. Our youngest son, Clay got engaged to Havanna Heeg, a lovely, godly, Christian young woman who also happens to be a second grade teacher! After celebrating their engagement at Thanksgiving with her family in Chicago, Illinois, we flew to Wake Forest, North Carolina to spend a few weeks in early December with our married son, Chase and his wife, Leanne, along with our two granddaughters. In mid- December, we traveled over three days with Chase’s family by car to central Texas…a long trip when you have little ones and the family dog! ha! Once in Texas, our daughter Dara, who is a veterinarian working the past two years in Pennsylvania, joined us just before relocating to London, England. Also, our foster-”adopted” boys Andrew and Jeremiah Esquivel, along with their girlfriends, made time to be with us which made our family complete. It had been at least four years since we had all been together, so it was extra special to have everyone under one roof for a few days at Christmas. Finally, both Wade and I were able to spend time with our extended family and elderly mothers in Texas, both of whom are doing remarkably well considering their age and physical condition. As much as we loved our time stateside, we were ready to come home to Bandung after the New Year!
As we look ahead to 2025, our little family faces many challenges and uncertainties, but the thing that IS certain is God - his love, his goodness, his mercy, and his grace. Wade and I can lean into His wisdom and power because He is the one who numbers our days and holds our futures, including the future of each of our children and grandchildren. Through Jesus, we can access the Wisdom of God and Power of God in our daily lives and rest in Him without undue anxiety or stress. I pray you will be able to experience His love and a deepened faith in 2025, so your heart can find true peace in Jesus Christ, the wisdom of God, sent to save us from shame and the chaos of our restless natures in order to present us as a perfect bride to our Heavenly Father.
Blessings,
