To support Mrs. Strickland’s message about the impact of technology in our children’s development, we would like to promote several books that are available in the Library:

  • The Read-Aloud Handbook by Jim Trelease

In this digital age, it’s important for us to let literature be a part of our children’s lives. This book equipped us with information on how to read aloud to our children, references of stories, and the importance of reading.

  • On Becoming Preteen Wise by Gary Ezzo and Robert Bucknam

It is during the preteen years that the roots of moral character are laid. This book offers us knowledge on how we respond to our children’s developmental changes.

  • Scrolling Ourselves to Death by Brett McCracken

Written by several authors, this book invites us to reflect about how social media and the activity of mindless scrolling affect our relationship with family, friends, and God. How should we, as Christians, respond to theological and discipleship challenges of scrolling life?

  • God, Technology, and the Christian Life by Tony Reinke.

With its biblical approach on technology, the author gives us more awareness on the dangers of technology.

  • The Anxious Generation: How the Great Rewiring of Childhood Is Causing an Epidemic of Mental Illness by Jonathan Haidt.

Haidt highlighted how a ‘phone-based-life’ is a major driving force behind the surge of psychological distress among children.
