A Spirit of Wisdom

Easter is the most important liturgical holiday in the life of a Christian, yet it is not celebrated with the same level of enthusiasm or anticipation as is Christmas. Christmas is rightly beloved and joyfully celebrated as the incarnational presence of God in human form on Earth, the long awaited Messiah, finally arrives in the fullness of time. But Christmas marks only the advent, the beginning, of a much longer cause for celebration. Easter marks the grand finale in God’s redemptive plan for His people through Christ’s perfect life, miraculous ministry, substitutionary death, victorious resurrection and amazing ascension.

For the Christian, Easter is a profound celebration of the Incarnate God conquering the final enemy of death once and for all time. This now conquered foe, Satan, has no more power over those who place their faith in Jesus; physical and spiritual death are defeated by the power of God through the Holy Spirit by the work of Jesus Christ. Reflect on this. It. is. finished. We can be restored to God and live in the hope of the new heaven and earth. We still look forward to another coming, when Christ the Risen King returns and all that was broken in the Garden through the Fall is remade. Those whose names are written in the Book of Life will reign alongside Christ in that New Creation for all eternity with unspeakable joy, wonder, work, and wisdom.

Join us as we celebrate this wondrous work of Christ on our behalf at the Schoolwide Easter Chapel, April 16 at 9 AM (LSW schedule). Student-led music and performances, including the Grammar students reciting the entire book of Ephesians from memory, will lead us in worship as a community. We pray this special chapel will revive in you “a spirit of wisdom” so you may grow in ever deeper knowledge of His love and grace.

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. ~ Ephesians 1:17 (NIV)

Grammar School

IMG 1867The first years of schooling are called the “grammar stage.” CBCS Grammar School is comprised of students from Grade 1 to Grade 6. The grammar stage are the years in which the building blocks for all other learning are laid. In the elementary school years the mind is ready to absorb information. Children at this age actually find memorization fun. During this period, students will begin to learn of facts. Students will learn such things as the rules of phonics and spelling, rules of grammar for English writing and speaking, poems, the vocabulary of foreign languages, the stories of history and literature, descriptions of plants and animals and the human body, and the facts of mathematics.

School of Logic

IMG 1616solBy fifth or sixth grade, a child’s mind begins to think more analytically. The “logic stage” is a time when students begin to notice cause and effect, how different fields of knowledge relate, and the way facts fit together into a logical framework. These students begin to develop their natural capacity for abstract thought while continuing to nourish their curiosity.

Our academic goals for the School of Logic students include learning how to become self-learners, learning how to manage their schedules and demands, and learning how to think critically and logically.
