Loving & Serving
Loving and Serving are two verbs that correlates with each other. The foundation of serving is love which means when we serve, it is an act of our love. Our love to God should become the motivation for us to serve others. Jesus set many examples about how to love and serve. He came to earth to serve us because He loves God and He loves us. In John 21:15-17, Jesus emphasized the importance of Peter’s love by asking him “Do you love me?” three times and his obedience to God before he served many people in the future. This shows that God emphasizes love first in order to serve.
This October, Early Childhood will have Indonesian Week. The theme for Indonesian Week in Early Childhood this year is “Loving and Serving Indonesia”. We would like to emphasize the importance of loving others before they can practice how to serve others. Along this month, the students will learn about Indonesia and experience its culture through activities such as tasting Indonesian food, playing Indonesian toys and games, and etc. They also will learn how to serve other children in Kalimantan (Sambas). Throughout this month, they will learn the love for God and Indonesia, and also how to serve others. In this opportunity, I also would like to ask EC parents to participate in this program by explaining the importance of loving and serving others at home, and also you may help in some activities that we have. I really hope this program will help our children to learn and cultivate their love for Indonesia and their desire to serve others like Jesus did for us. God bless you!
